Longbow Creek

by David D. McIntire

/

about

This soundscape of water was recorded in northern Arkansas in the spring of 2010. It is not so much a "composition," as a celebration of natural sounds. The recording was made deep in a canyon, in a location that was absent of man-made sound. The rush of the water in the creek, combined with the dripping from the canyon's overhang create a complex tapestry of water sounds. Subtle shifts in listening perspective occur, but there is no drama or climax, nothing develops. It simply allows the listener presence with the elements of water and stone. Here is an hour-long escape from the noise and bustle of daily life. Proceeds from this recording will underwrite future soundscape projects like this one.
